olivia and the lovers
is looking for a new drummer
For the last three years, we’ve had the INCREDIBLE privilege of playing with Zak. Unfortunately- he’s one of the best drummers in Chicago, and his time is in high demand. So- we’re looking for someone new to join the Lovers as our drummer!
What’s our deal?
We’re Queer and trans artists. You don’t have to be, but that’s who we are.
We split the pay we get from gigs. We try to balance how much a gig is paying, how much fun it would be to play, and whether anyone would have to take time off work to play it.
We do our best to make it so you don’t have to pay for travel/lodging on tour.
We all have day jobs, but approach this as professionals.
We’re flexible and supportive- we all like spending time together, and are kind to each other
We practice once a week
We play regular gigs around town- generally 1-2 shows a month
We do semi-regular short tours- 3-7 days, hopefully 2-3 times a year.
What are we looking for?
A drummer who can play at our level, and is excited to grow as we grow!
Someone who takes this seriously, and wants to see where a project like this can go.
Someone who wants to make this their primary band.
Someone who is excited about the kind of music we play- Queer cowboy tunes for queer cowboys.
We’re primarily looking for a kit drummer- but if you play some other kind of percussion that can fill the same sonic space and keep us all together, we’d love to hear it!
BiPOC, queer and trans artists to the front!
Sounds like something you’re interested in?
Use this google form to send us a sample of your playing and some info about yourself. We’ll invite a couple of folks to learn a song or two and sit in with the band on a practice.
